Everything to do During Valentine’s Day Weekend in Hartford

Some people have a love-hate relationship with Valentine’s Day, and other people just hate it. But whether you’re single or taken on this day, we think there’s one thing you could really fall in love with – you guessed it, the arts! Start your weekend right and dance the night away on Valentine’s Day eve at New Britian Museum of American Art’s Museum after Dark then wake up bright and early for Second Saturday to discover the new Romare Bearden exhibit at the Wadsworth’s Amistad Center free of charge. Mark Twain fans will want to check out the production of Is He Dead at Little Theatre of Manchester and the Diaries of Adam and Eve at the Mark Twain House. Museum after Dark [UA]

Where: New Britain Museum of American Art

Join NBMAA for Freak Friday the 13th Museum after Dark party! Network with young professionals and enjoy a night packed with art, music, dancing, and drinks! Dance all night with DJ Cajar, live music from Mission Zero, participate in an art project brought to you by Trashion Fashion Show and grab food available from Agave Canteen.

Dancing Lessons [UA]

A man with Asperger’s seeks the instruction of a Broadway dancer, now sidelined with injuries. As their relationship unfolds, they’re caught off-guard by surprising discoveries – both hilarious and heartwarming.

Mark Twain’s ‘Is He Dead?’ [UA]

When: Saturday, February 14, 8PM (through February 22)

Where: Little Theatre of Manchester

Focusing on a fictional story of the great French painter, Jean-Francois Millet, who, with the help of his colleagues, fakes his death in order to increase the value of his paintings.  The result is a great farce, skillfully adapted by Ives. This will be the first major Connecticut production of this play and is being produced in conjunction with the Mark Twain House and Museum’s Festival of Twain on Stage.

The Diaries of Adam & Eve [UA]

When: Saturday, February 14, 7:30PM

Where: The Mark Twain Museum Center

Treat your Valentine to a touching love story by the National Theater of the Deaf, who will perform Mark Twain’s most humorous and affectionate works. One performance only followed by a chocolate and wine reception.

Second Saturdays for Families [UA]

Where: Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art

Enjoy FREE admission to the Wadsworth, discover thework of Romare Bearden, join a family tour of the galleries, and make a collage inspired by Bearden’s work.

Sea Tea Improv’s Free Monthly Show
